From Client to Certified Colon Hydrotherapist: A Whole-Person Healing Journey

My path into colon hydrotherapy did not begin as a career choice, it began as a personal commitment to my own health.

For over 15 years, I have received colon hydrotherapy as part of my efforts to stay as healthy as possible. I’ve always believed in taking a more natural approach to digestive health and in addressing the body rather than focusing on symptoms alone. Digestive health has always been an area of deep interest to me because it plays such a foundational role in overall well-being.

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and experienced three infections within a single year. It was a difficult and eye-opening time that led me to look more closely at how I was supporting my digestive system. I relied heavily on the wellness practices I trusted, including colon hydrotherapy, to support my body during that period.

Several years ago, this interest became deeply personal.

From my own experience, after using colon hydrotherapy consistently, I have not had a diverticulitis episode in many years. While every person’s health journey is unique, this experience was incredibly meaningful for me and reinforced my belief in the importance of digestive care as part of a whole-person approach to wellness.

I never imagined that at 60 years old I would begin a new chapter in my professional life, one rooted in healing, education, and service. Yet that is exactly what happened. I decided to pursue my national certification in colon hydrotherapy, combining my personal experience with continued education and research. Rather than slowing down, I stepped into work that feels deeply purposeful and aligned with my desire to help others.

I have now been a certified and credentialed colon hydrotherapist at Health20 for approximately three years, and I genuinely love what I do. I am passionate about helping people feel comfortable discussing digestive health, something that is often overlooked or difficult to talk about. My approach is rooted in continued research, hands-on experience, and a more natural approach to digestive health. Having once been a client myself allows me to meet people with empathy, respect, and understanding.

At Health20, we are committed to creating a calm and peaceful office environment. All the therapists are board certified and credentialed, friendly, and knowledgeable, and we work together to ensure every client feels welcomed, relaxed, and well cared for. Creating a supportive and professional space is an important part of the healing experience, and it is something we take great pride in.

A Little About Me

I have lived in the East Bay my entire life and am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Mike. Together, we have two children and four grandchildren who bring so much joy to our lives. Our weekends are often spent attending sporting events, cheering proudly as our grandchildren’s biggest fans. When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking with our two Labrador retrievers, cooking, gardening, painting, and traveling whenever we can. Family, movement, creativity, and connection are at the heart of how I live and how I care for others.

This journey—from client to practitioner—has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. I am grateful for the lessons my own health challenges taught me and for the opportunity to support others as they take an active role in their digestive health and overall wellness.
