Since 2007, Health2o in Danville has been offering 5-star rated colon hydrotherapy services to thousands of grateful clients in the Bay Area. Over these years we have consistently witnessed an influx of clients scheduling after the first of the year. Clearly, the indulgences our bodies have endured over the holiday season can make us feel sluggish and unwell. Our regular clients know how much better they will feel after a good colonic session.
There is also something about turning the calendar page that can be more than just ticking off another year. January can signal a change in habits. For many, improving health is at the top of the resolutions list. It might be that the reality of health changes in those that we love, or changes we have noticed in our own health, are now top of mind.
Focusing on the health of our gut is more than trendy. Every system in our body is connected to the functions of our digestive tract. Most of us are carrying exponentially more in our colons than we realize and this impacts every part of our health. Cleansing the colon of this excess waste can make the way for healthy microbiome to replenish a formerly crowded colon so that good flora can thrive.
Holistic wellness approaches are common today due to a growing understanding that all of the body’s systems are intrinsically connected. Our mental and emotional well-being is directly linked to the well-being of our gut through constant neural communication via the vagus nerve. Ninety percent of the body’s serotonin, the “happy chemical,” is known to be produced in the gut, rather than the brain. This is why a cleanse can improve not only our physical, but our mental and emotional state as well.
Physically, a cleanse not only supports digestion by giving the gut a break from processing foods that are difficult to manage, it can also reduce whole body inflammation through the elimination of sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. Many of our cleansing clients report a boost in their energy levels, as if a reset button has been pressed on the internal systems, allowing the body to operate more efficiently.
By resetting the digestive system, many experience improved focus and relief from brain fog. Removing what the body is struggling to process allows us to discover the surprising truth that our lack of mental clarity was actually centered in our gut all along. This relief can improve our mood and give us a sense of having more margin to manage the stresses in our lives.
The start of the year is also a natural time to say goodbye to old patterns that are not beneficial for us. A cleanse can serve as a structured pause, a way to step back from what has become automatic and make more conscious choices. That pause allows us to be more aware of what and why we eat, aligning our daily actions with our long-term health values.
Every colon hydrotherapist has a story of how this modality has changed their life and this is absolutely true for me. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004 and very quickly found that I was having trouble walking, talking, and functioning due to severe fatigue. My natural doctor eventually directed me to begin cleansing with colon hydrotherapy and everything changed. I have not suffered from any of the symptoms of MS for so long that I would forget about my diagnosis except that I often share it with clients at Health2o. My story helps them to connect to the idea that all of our health starts in the gut.
My personal health journey and my experience as a colon hydrotherapist have shown me that cleansing can be the first chapter in a longer story of better, intentional health choices. This effect can be ongoing, a chance for real, sustainable lifestyle change.
So as this new year begins, consider the idea of skipping the resolutions and choosing a true reset instead, starting with your gut.
